Lord knows, there are MANY things I SHOULD have done differently.

Now that I'm a Grandfather, I can't help but pay close attention to how my Grandchildren are being raised. And naturally, by doing so, I tend to compare what I see with the way I acted as a parent. I see major differences. I'm very pleased.

Because of these differences, I often beat myself up for not being as good as a parent as I could have been. Then, I see a comment that my oldest Son posted on another person's blog. WOW. I guess there was SOME things I did right!

Danny's comment is posted below. I'm VERY PROUD of him, and my adorable Daughter-In-Law, and the way they are raising my three adorable Grandchildren.

I only wish I had done a better job, but I guess I could have done worse. I also wish I had played a more direct role in my youngest Son's first twenty-some-odd years, but as it turns out, he's OK too.

DANNY, BRADLEY, AMANDA, DREW, CHARLIE & LINDSAY LEIGH: I am very proud of you all, and love each of you more than you will ever know.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dan W. Boles (@danwboles on twitter) says:

I grew up an Air Force brat turned Corporate brat of a single Father (and sometimes a step-mom). To say that I grew up in a strict home is, well, an understatement, but I have to say it ultimately paid off and in more ways than one.

I’ve noticed that so far I’m the only Dad to comment (I think), which is fascinating to me. I hope perhaps my experience, testimony, and perspective will be of value to both Moms and Dads alike.

The first thing I remember about the strictness was that I always hated being raised as a “little soldier.” It has lead to some personality conflicts with authority figures now as an adult (and especially in college) but ultimately provided me with a deep appreciation for routine and understanding how/why boundaries are put in place.

The second thing I would add is it created in me a rebellious and audacious desire to “prove myself” when I went to college. This lead to many mistakes, poor judgment calls and decisions that I would take back in a heartbeat if I could, but I also mastered the art of learning from them. I didn’t spend much time on the mistakes; I learned from them, vowed not to repeat them, and moved on with life. Looking back, I can see the wisdom of growing up in a strict home where decision-making (vis-a-vis responsibility) was an integral piece of how I was raised. That wisdom (and my Father cutting the cord and allowing me to fail) allowed me the freedom to make decisions on my own, make mistakes (and there were many!) and process them and learn from them. As I grew into adulthood, beyond college and into marriage and child-bearing/rearing, this gave me the ultimate confidence in my ability to make decisions and take care of myself and my family.

The last thing I would add is simply that even though it sucked growing up in a strict home, and my father was definitely NOT concerned about being my friend, he accomplished two very important things; he prepared me for adulthood by the time I was 18 (not 30) and he earned (demanded really) my respect.

If I accomplish that with my three kids, I will consider my job well done. Anything else is unacceptable.

Blessed be,
Dan

Dads who change diapers change the world.

Welcome Spring 2010!

Got to spend the 1st day of Spring with "Da Boyz" today. I don't work on Fridays. I (usually) sleep late. The phone rings at 5:27 am. I reach over and grab the Droid. It's #1 Son, Danny. I struggle to remove my CPAP mask before the call rolls to voicemail. "Hello!" I said. "We have a baby!" he responds. "Boy or Girl?" "I don't know anything else yet. They threw me out of the OR. I'll let you know when I find out more."

I quickly leap out of bed and started thinking about how to get to the hospital. Being without transportation, I pulled up the CCT route schedules to see when the 1st available bus would be coming by the neighborhood. I already knew which buses I needed to catch to get me to Kennestone. Route 45's first inbound run leaves the mall at 7:40 am and would be coming up Cobb Parkway at Barrett around 8:13 am. That's nearly 3 hours! Can I possibly wait that long?

I decide to get moving, maybe I'll just call a cab. I shave (something I very RARELY do on a day off), jump in the shower, & get dressed.

It's now 6:20 am and I've not heard anything new. I call Danny's phone and go straight to voicemail. I immediately redial. Voicemail. I wait 10 minutes & redial. Voicemail again. What's going on? I must try to be patient.

6:35 am, Danny calls. "It was a little scary, but Amanda and the baby are both OK. I'm waiting to see them now." "Boy or Girl" I demand. "We told Drew that he would get the privilege of telling everyone." "Where is Drew?" "The boys are still at home, asleep, with Grandma." "Well I guess I need to call Grandma and tell her to wake 'em up!" "You could do that."

I finally realize that I was just going to have to wait. Patience is NOT one of my strong points. Danny sucked all of that out of me during his teen years.

I spend the next hour on Twitter and Facebook, looking for updates from Danny, and telling the world that we have a new baby ... that it's a ... foot? Yep, knowing that it would frustrate me even MORE, Danny posts a Blog article with a photo of the baby's foot. Thanks, Son!

I get a text message from Bradley (my youngest): Is it a boy or a girl? I call him and explain how his older Brother is torturing me.

The time for the bus finally draws near and I head for the bus stop. I get there at least 20 minutes ahead of time. I pace. I check for another phone call. I check Twitter and Facebook for updates. Are the boys on their way yet?

8:15 am. The bus arrives. I tell the bus driver where I'm going and why. I don't even sit down. Just a few miles down Cobb Parkway, I must hop off the 45 and catch the 40. I RUN from one stop to the other (a good quarter mile or more), looking back to see if the 40 was coming. I get to the stop just in time to take a few labored deep breaths. It was right on time. I board the 40 and tell this bus driver the same story. I don't sit down. I wanted to be there, knowing I would still probably have to wait.

I arrive at Kennestone and begin to re-familiarize myself with the maze of hallways and buildings, attempting to get to the Women's Center. After walking down 2 or 3 different hallways that were getting me nowhere, I ask for help.

8:40 am. I make my way up to the main level (I was on the lower level) and down the "Avenues" to the Purple Tower. I call Danny to let him know I'm there. Unfortunately, the boys are STILL at home, but at least they're up and having Breakfast. Oh ... I haven't eaten yet. I've been up for over 3 hours, I STILL don't know if it's a boy or a girl, and my stomach reminds me that it's empty. I go get a Chic-fil-A biscuit and chocolate milk. I call my Sister to tell her the news.

9:15 am. STILL waiting. At least they've moved Amanda and the baby to a room. I decide to go visit a good friend who was admitted on Wednesday night after having a mini stroke. I walk the "Avenues" again, he's in the Green Tower. I meet his Mom for the 1st time. We discuss how we need to change our diets and exercise more often (like all this walking doesn't count?). We discuss how a 4 oz. portion of skinless boneless chicken breast is about 2 or 3 bites for us. We both love to eat. Eating "right" is a difficult thing for guys like us to do.

9:39 am. Danny calls. "Come on up." FINALLY!!! Back to the Green elevators, down from the 7th floor to main, down the "Avenues" again to the Purple Tower, up the elevator to the 4th floor. I may have set a record. I was ANXIOUS!!!

9:4? am. I get to room P439. I knock and open the door. I see Grandpa & Grandma. I see Drew & Charlie. I see Amanda, her sister Kathy, and Danny holding my newest Grandchild. "Go tell him Drew." Danny commands.

Drew runs to me with a big smile on his face and announces "IT'S A GIRL!!! And her name is Lenzy Lu!!!"

Drew was quickly corrected "It's Lindsay Leigh." And to be safe, I asked for the correct spelling.

I took a moment to get hugs and kisses from my two GrandSons, and made my way over to Danny. "Gimme!!!" I was ready to hold my GrandDaughter.

She's BEAUTIFUL. I was sitting here thinking "I need to write a new blog post, but it's only been a little more than two weeks since my last post. What has happened in the last couple of weeks?" WOW. I realized that more CHANGES have happened in the last two weeks than typically occur in two months of my life.

1st, I've moved. I won't get into the details on all the reasons why, but the main reason was to be closer to where I work. I had been staying with a close friend who lived in an area that was nowhere near a bus route and a healthy hike to anything. Consequently, I was dependent upon this friend to take me places, to get me to a bus stop in the mornings, and to pick me up from work at night. I HATE being dependent upon someone else. And as much as I appreciate those who help me, I'd much rather take care of myself.

My new location is great. I'm within walking distance to just about anything and everything. Restaurants, grocery store, bank, and yes, a bus stop. I've got a comfortable bed, a mini-fridge, high-speed internet, over 200 TV channels, and a very unusual inclusion to the roommate agreement - home cooked meals!

Now, most of my friends that know me well will tell you that I am an extrovert and I feed on social interaction. No problem! A five minute walk and I can be among my (new) friends at Keegan's Public House. I've already made several new friends there, and they already know what to pour when I walk in the door. The food is really good, and they have $3 pints on Tuesday nights!

I've also gone through a major technological change in the last two weeks. Thanks to my carelessness one evening during my closing duties at work, I lost one of my prized possessions, my iPod Touch. Now, I had been contemplating for months the concept of combining my two "devices" - the iPod Touch and the Motorola Razor. I used my phone for, well, the obvious, as well as text messaging and posting photos to Twitter and Facebook. I used my iPod Touch for checking email, Twitter, Facebook, web browsing, calculator, notes, and a ton of other things. The day after I lost the iPod Touch, I was LOST. I had no handheld device for my extroverted-technological-social-interaction, and it made me crazy. So ... this past Thursday, I became DROID-matized. And so far, I love it. One of the silliest things about it? For many years now, I have used my wireless phone for my alarm clock. And I never really found an alarm tone that I was fond of. But now, my Droid awakes me with a rooster crowing!!!

Finally, I must share a video I made with my Droid of the Snow Day we just had here in Kennesaw, GA. Biscuits. And before you get started, don't knock it until you've tried it. Whether you follow my recipe below, or one of many variations, you should at least try it. Some of the variations I have run across recently do not sound that good to me, so I'm going to suggest you start with mine, and if you want to tweak it to suit your own taste, be my guest.

Until recently, I had come to the conclusion that this incredible breakfast treat was confined geographically to a small area in middle Tennessee. Thanks to a link shared by my adorable friend Amanda (thanks Sweetie!), I realize that there are folks in other states who've enjoyed it's deliciousness.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_X0EQ6Wtzr9Y/S2Gx4v5V83I/AAAAAAAAAHM/3mBbdcM127A/s320/chocolate-gravy_DSC7467.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431818214073299826" />

For me, it's most certainly one of my fondest childhood memories.

Ingredients:

- 1 stick of butter or margarine
- 1 cup of sugar*
- 1/4 cup of flour*
- 2 heaping tablespoons cocoa*
- milk

Preparation:

Slowly melt butter or margarine over medium to low heat in a saucepan.
In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour and cocoa. Add to melted butter.
Slowly add milk and stir constantly. Adjust heat as needed. Do not allow to boil, but it needs to get hot enough to thicken. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the gravy is smooth. Spoon over biscuits and enjoy while hot with a cold glass of milk.**

DO NOT used canned biscuits! If you're like me, and cannot make biscuits from scratch, get the frozen Pillsbury Grands (Southern Style).

* The measurements above are a STARTING POINT ONLY. It may take several attempts to get it right (as it did for me). I often add a little more flour while cooking if it's not getting thick enough, and will sometimes add more cocoa if it doesn't look chocolaty enough.

** Although Chocolate Gravy & Biscuits is incredibly delicious on it's own, I sometimes enjoy it along side the traditional bacon (or sausage) and eggs.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_X0EQ6Wtzr9Y/S2GveUPXg7I/AAAAAAAAAG0/riwRUK9nshQ/s320/choc_gravy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431815560949629874" />

As I mentioned above, this is certainly one of my fondest childhood memories. And now, it's something that I have the pleasure of sharing with my two boys and my Grandchildren.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_X0EQ6Wtzr9Y/S2Gwje-1HvI/AAAAAAAAAG8/xaa--Uyo-Uw/s320/52604418.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431816749244030706" />

Here are some links that I have run across with some history and additional variations of the recipe:

Homesick Texan - Thanks again Amanda!

The Food Timeline

AppalachianFolk

Google Search

So give it a try. If you're still not convinced, maybe you should just invite me over to make it for you. If you still don't like it (after I've made it for you), then you obviously don't like chocolate in the first place. Or you don't like breakfast. Or you're just ... strange. ENJOY!!!

My Travels

OK, so today, I was getting caught up on everybody's "status" on Facebook when I noticed that one of my High School Classmates had posted a "Cities I've Visited" travel map. Now, I usually avoid the majority of the "applications" on Facebook, but since it was cold and raining outside, I decided to play around with this one. I quickly began to realize just how lucky I have been to have traveled to so many places. Sure, there are lots of other places that I would love to visit, but compared to many, I have been very fortunate. My (7) years in the US Air Force and my (16) years working for MCI had me going places that I never would have been otherwise. I had the opportunity to live in England for 3 years, and I saw the Azores, Sicily, Cairo, and Oman while in the military. MCI took me to places like California, Arizona, New York City, and Washington DC (just to name a few). I have also been fortunate enough to vacation in a few places like Yellowstone, several spots in Florida, and Freeport, Bahamas. Interestingly enough, however, I also realized that my 2 favorite places are both in my home state of Tennessee. Places where my parents took me (often) as a child, Dale Hollow Lake and the Great Smoky Mountains.

Rest assured, you will NEVER see me within 500 yards of a mall or any other retail store (other than maybe Kroger) on this day. It's insane. Did I say INSANE already?

To me, this day is just a continuation of yesterday, Thanksgiving. I have a lot to be thankful for. Since there are far too many things to list them all, I've created my "top ten" list:

Top 10 Things I Am Thankful For

1. God's love, mercy, and grace.

2. My two Sons.

3. My adorable Grandchildren.

4. My wonderful Daughter-In-Law.

5. Louanne - for keeping me from being homeless.

6. All my friends and family.

7. Beautiful places like Dale Hollow Lake and the Smoky Mountains.

8. Having a really cool job (just wish I could get more hours).

9. Coffee in the morning.

10. Being above ground.

So, if you are one of those "insane" people who are out shopping today, no offense intended! It's just not for me. I hope you find all the great bargains you're looking for, and I hope you have a wonderful day and make it home safe and sound. If you're like me, I hope you are fortunate enough to be at home, relaxing, and grazing on the leftovers.

Yesterday, for the first time ever, I cooked an entire Thanksgiving Day dinner. I love to cook, but I have never attempted to single-handedly prepare a holiday meal. It has given me a greater appreciation for all the years that I've enjoyed someone else's efforts. I miss my Mom's cooking. And my Aunt Rozelle was the greatest cook that ever lived.

But I decided to give it a shot, and it turned out fairly good! I had never "roasted" a bird before. And I had never cooked sweet potatoes. I can't remember if I'd ever made a green bean casserole before, but you can't really mess up when you use the recipe on the can of French's French Fried Onions. The cornbread dressing was ready-made, frozen in it's own baking pan. The gravy was a mix (just add water). And frozen corn-on-the-cob takes just a few minutes in the microwave. So it's not like I slaved over the stove for hours and hours.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!!

Can I Just Get ONE COMMENT???

OK, so I haven't posted anything in 6 months. Who cares? I've never received a comment on my blog - that I can recall anyway. Guess I'm not an interesting person. At least not in the land of blogs.

So, here's the latest news of my exciting life:

Still un(der)employed. I have a part time gig driving the kiddie train at Town Center Mall. It's a blast, but I'm doing good to get 18 hours a week.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_X0EQ6Wtzr9Y/Svwzwn93wtI/AAAAAAAAAGA/3mppSkwuhcU/s320/091.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403250563392979666" />

Still homeless. Had to give up my apartment in Rome. I will certainly miss it there, and I will miss all the great friends that I've made over the last few years. I will miss the traffic (or lack thereof).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_X0EQ6Wtzr9Y/Svw0-qSV33I/AAAAAAAAAGI/7vnqTDt17C0/s320/RomeApartment.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403251904045506418" />

Until I get some decent income flowing, I'm dependent upon others to keep me out of a cardboard box under the bridge. I HATE being in this situation. However ...

I'm above ground. As bad as life may seem, I am still alive and kicking, and refuse to give up faith that things will get better again.

I'm blessed with adorable Grandchildren! A lot of people get all uptight about getting older. I admit, my body is starting to look and feel like an antique, and my mind does 'slip' a little, but there is no greater joy than having Grandkids!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_X0EQ6Wtzr9Y/Svw1m-Yw9kI/AAAAAAAAAGQ/TGxm0nG0_ok/s320/34970865.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403252596635924034" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_X0EQ6Wtzr9Y/Svw16Krn_UI/AAAAAAAAAGY/3dngk9T3uVs/s320/31077128.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403252926353767746" />

New Look

So . . . Since I am currently unable to drive, and unable to attend MY church (Heritage Baptist in Cartersville), I decided last Sunday to visit. To put things bluntly, this bunch has something going on. No need to dress up. Doors open at 10:30 am on Sunday and the worship starts at 11:00 am. There's coffee and other beverages to enjoy. The music is great, and Josh is an exciting and effective speaker/pastor who delivered a great message in both of the services I've attended. On his blog, you can read more about today's worship. My favorite part today was the mannequin. I'm can't describe the symbolism very well without preaching the entire sermon, guess you just had to be there! My best description would be "God's Mercy forgives us for being broken, and his Grace puts us back together, piece by piece."

Newly 2 Years Later . . .

. . . here I am back on Blogger. Oh my how much has happened and changed since my last post. Not likely that I will replicate things by posting here often, since I am now hooked on Twitter and Facebook. My how things have changed in the last couple of decades. If my Daddy had ever seen the likes of a widescreen HDTV (LCD or Plasma) - I'd love to see his 1st expression!!! After God and Family, his TV was his most prized possession. Miss ya Dad. Of course Mom never had any control over the TV (at least she let him believe that). Miss ya Mom. My bad. Been kinda busy. I've moved from Louanne's house in Powder Springs up to an apartment in Rome. The apartment building was built in the 30's, has all hardwood floors, glass door knobs, etc., way cool! And the best part, it's A 4 MINUTE WALK to my job! I get to walk home at lunch and Brewster's lovin' it. Naturally, being the pack-rat that I am, I will spend the next 3-6 months trying to unpack and get settled in.

In other news, because of the move, I currently have no TV or internet access at the new pad, so until that gets taken care of, my postings will be few and far between. You can, however, keep up with that adorable Grandson of mine by visiting The Boles Family Blog. Danny has recently posted a video of Drew chasing him around the house, and a slide show of some recent photos. Well, I got to thinking, who has time to be doing this blog thing anyway? I mean, I certainly have lots of other more important things I should be doing, you know, like chores. Not only has my oldest & his beautiful bride made a Grandfather out of me, but now my youngest has graduated from High School. It was not so long ago that I was wiping their little behinds . . .

Needless to say, I am very proud of both of them . . . no, let's say all three.

While attending the graduation ceremony yesterday, I was fortunate enough to visit with the little angel known as "Jackie" - who is Bradley's older sister - my stepdaughter while married to Bradley's mother. Jackie has grown into a beautiful woman, wife, & mother - mother of three adorable little girls - with the fourth (another girl) on the way. She is married to a fine fellow named Dillon, and they have a nice home in my hometown of Cookeville, Tennessee.

Pictured above is Jackie, Danny, & Bradley, shortly after the graduation ceremony.

And here's a short video of Bradley as his name is called, he accepts his diploma, and crosses the stage:

CONGRATULATIONS BRADLEY! Evidently, everything looked "OK" on the "echo" I had on Tuesday since I haven't heard anything since. Had that tooth pulled on Friday morning - it was painful, but it's over. And as expected, the dentist's office hit me up for even more money - charged me an additional $40 for the laughing gas without telling me in advance that it was extra. And my guess is, they rarely use it. It took them several attempts to get the gas flowing. When it did finally reach the nose mask, it must have been near 100% because I got real silly real fast. They turned it back down, and I am convinced they shut it completely off. Then the dentist copped attitude with me because I squirmed a bit while he was shoving the 1st needle into my gums. And from that moment on, he showed me no mercy. The 2nd needle went into the roof of my mouth - and felt like he shoved it all the way up into my skull. Can it get any worse? Absolutely! Nothing was numb when he started twisting and tugging at the tooth. I'm not sure, because I had my eyes closed, but I think he may have used a crow bar. The novacain, or whatever it was that he injected with the 3 foot needles, started working about an hour after I left the place. Between that and the pain pills, I didn't really suffer much after that evil tooth was gone.

On the lighter side, the boat has been de-winterized and is ready to hit the water. There was an unexpected repair, however, which cost an extra $100 + above what I had budgeted for, so unless somebody wants to cover the price of gas . . .

Isn't a week of vacation supposed to be fun? My oldest (or as my father used to say - "my number one son") turned 27 years old today. I was fortunate enough to be on vacation this week, so Danny, Amanda, Drew and I went to lunch to celebrate Danny's Birthday at the new Steak 'n Shake in Acworth.

===================================================================

I was looking on my computer to find a picture of Danny, and realized that I have no recent shots of him. In the process, I ran across some old photos, and just couldn't resist putting at least one of them up on my blog. The photo below is of my Father holding Danny when he was somewhere between 1 and 2 years old.

Twins . . I've had some trouble with a tooth for several weeks now, and the Dentist says I need a root canal. Now, the Dentist assured me that there is nothing to it, but I've heard far too many horror stories to believe him. Then, much to my disappointment, I learned that my insurance only pays based on some "schedule" that I have no visibility to. Although the information on the insurance website leads me to believe that the insurance pays 100%, this evidently is not the case. I learned that the root canal (that I don't want to have) will cost ME about $490 out-of-pocket. This is money I just don't have right now. When given my other option, an extraction, which will cost me about $49 out-of-pocket, well, let's just say I had no choice but to opt for the "hillbilly grin." Old age really bites, then your teeth falls out.

Oh, guess you're curious about the title to this post "Twins . . OR . . . ???" Well, it was time for the "one year after the surgery" echo today. The gal at the Cardiologist's office who performed the test did not speak very good English. Not sure if she was German or Russian or what. So, you know me, I like to joke and kid around, and in this case, was expecting to totally confuse this lady. So while lying there, as she moved the 'sensor' around my chest, I asked "Well . . is it a boy or a girl?" She, without any hesitation, said "It's both." So the title . . am I having twins, or some bizarre "combo" creature?

OK, so you can rest assured, I am not quitting my job to do stand up . . .

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://bobboles.blogspot.com/2006/05/twins-or.html' title='Twins . . I am especially fond of these awesome little planes because I was fortunate enough to take a ride in one a few years ago. The T-6 "Texan" is a two-place advanced trainer, built by North American Aviation. The T-6 first flew in 1940, and was the training aircraft for most of the Allied pilots who flew in World War II. The T-6 that I rode in was built in 1942!

This weekend, I had the opportunity to attend "Angels Over Atlanta" - a two day Airshow featuring the US NAVY BLUE ANGELS Flight Demonstration Squadron. All I can say is WOW! Most of you know that I spent 7 years in the US AIR FORCE and that I have always had a great fondness of fighter jets. And yes, my favorite all time movie is Top Gun. Anyway, here's one of the photos I shot today. I also managed to record some great video shots too! Just wish I could figure out how to post them on my Blog.

Mmmm, dats some real good 1st Birthday Cake!

No doubt about it, I am one PROUD GRANDPA - and you can rest assured that you will see lots and lots of pictures of my ADORABLE GRANDSON on this site! Although I've been tinkering with PCs, the 'net, and websites for many years, I have to admit that I'm clueless about blogs. After seeing that my oldest son, Danny, had established 3 blogs recently (see my list of favorite blogs once I figure out how to put it on here), I had to give it a shot too. You know, the old man's got to prove his technological superiority here! Anyway, the truth is, at the time I launched this thing (and typed this 1st posting), I didn't even know what blog meant, much less how to start one. Maybe by the time you read this, I'll have it figured out, and it will be worth your time to be here!
